Local attractions:


TULCEA, situated at 277 km from Bucharest, is the main city of the Danube Delta and the main gate to its wonders. Built on 7 hills and having a Turkish oriental architecture, this city was an important commercial market from ancient times.

Nowadays , Tulcea is a very important harbour and the center of the Romanian fish industry.

Tulcea is known for its museums, among them the most representative is the Danube Delta Museum, which provides a good introduction to the flora and fauna and way of life of the communities in the area.

Other attractions are the County Museum, where you can obtain information about the history of this city, ancient Roman settlement , known as Aegyssus.

You can also see in Tulcea old buildings with specific architectural style : Pasalelor Palace, built in the 19th century, the Azzizzie Mosque and the Saint Nicolas Church, built in 1865.

SULINA, with a population of 5150 inhabitants, located at 75 km from Tulcea, is the last town from eastern Romania.

The local attractions are the old building of the European Danube Commission, built in 1860, the Saint Nicolas Alexander Church, the House-Museum of Emil Botez, as known as Jean Bart, and in the center of the city, the beacon measuring 18,5 m, built in 1852 and renovated in 1870.

CRISAN – the most important city on the Sulina channel from where you can start the journey to Caraorman – considered as a heaven for nature lovers.

CARAORMAN – the name Caraorman comes from a Turkish word which means “black forest”

The village, with 3,5 km long and 500 m wide, is located on the island with the same name between the Sulina channel and the Saint George channel, at 12 km from Crisan.

Near the village you can observe a very rare phenomenon, sand dunes with 10 m heights, that make a unique desert place.

The most important place is the "Hunter Fountain" where you can see the tallest oak from the Delta. This oak is called " Bedded Oak" and is over 400 years old.
